Peruvian onion exports increased by 29% in March 2024





Peruvian onion exports in March 2024 amounted to 4,118 tons, which was 28.9 percent higher than what was reported in the same month of 2023, as reported by Agraria.

The distribution of exports during the month showed a concentration in five major markets. The US absorbed 37.2 percent of total exports, with 1,530 tons. Spain maintained a participation of 31.4 percent, with 1,293 tons. The Dominican Republic, Guatemala and Costa Rica completed the list of top importers, with 19.4 percent, 2.8 percent and 2.7 percent respectively.

In exports, the yellow variety dominated with 2,325 tons, 56.5 percent of the total, followed by the red onion with 726 tons (17.6 percent) and the Ryan variety with 231 tons (5.6 percent).

The companies leading the shipments were Mentor Agro Productos SAC, with a 14.7 percent share. They were followed by Agroexportaciones Dyciel EIRL (9.9 percent), Solsur Trading SAC (7.1 percent), CEC Import Export Trading SAC (6.6 percent) and Shuman Produce PerĂº SAC (5.9 percent).
