Field Hockey Canada is hiring two Canada Summer Job positions this summer

Field Hockey Canada is the national governing body of the sport of hockey in Canada. From grassroots to high performance, Field Hockey Canada works to develop and strengthen hockey across the country, and position our national teams for consistent podium finishes. Field Hockey Canada is looking for a few special events coordinators this summer to support hosting, management and communications for international and domestic hockey events.

POSITION: Special events coordinator

Expected duration: late May – mid August (8-12 weeks)

The Special Events Coordinator reports to the Events & Engagement Officer and works closely with the Chief Executive Officer, Communications Manager and local organizers to support the execution of Field Hockey Canada events. The Field Hockey Canada Special Events Coordinator is responsible for supporting successful event management and planning and assisting with communications activities for the organization during the summer of 2024.

The Special Events Coordinator is responsible for the following:

  • Liaise with internal and external partners involved in the planning and execution of the events in the areas of event logistics, recruitment and training of volunteers, media development, marketing materials, announcements, communications, etc.
  • Special priority is given to supporting the successful organization and management of Field Hockey Canada Nationals and the Junior Pan American Championships (both held in Vancouver in July/August).
  • Planning and supporting online and in-person events, including but not limited to Hall of Fame celebrations, National Coaches Week, Officials Week, National Team broadcasts, etc…
  • Work with FHC Communications staff to build out event web pages and communications initiatives that correspond with events.
  • Work with FHC staff to prepare templates and guides for hosting in-person events in the future.
  • Assist in coordinating guest lists, awards, specific meetings and social media associated with Field Hockey Canada’s online events portfolio.
  • Responds to public inquiries about events, including assisting with media requests.

POSITION: Communications & Events Coordinator

The Communications and Events Coordinator is responsible to the Communications Manager and will lead and support communications, marketing, sponsorship and fundraising initiatives. The Communications & Events Coordinator will collaborate with Communications Manager, the Events & Engagement Officer and other program leaders as necessary, with an emphasis on communications, social media and marketing.

The Communications & Events Coordinator is responsible for the following:

  • Provide general assistance to the Communications Manager in the preparation and execution of digital content, including articles, videos, photos, etc.
  • Special priority is given to supporting the successful organization and communications support of Field Hockey Canada Nationals and the Junior Pan American Championships (both held in Vancouver in July/August).
  • Lead activation, marketing and fundraising initiatives in the hockey community.
  • Create and share Field Hockey Canada content via social media channels, including the coordination, tracking, administration, scheduling and analysis of web content.
  • Maintain and manage social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, etc.
