Ottawa City Council to vote on resolution against OSF HealthCare Hospital Plan | Classic Hits 103.9 WLPO

Nearly two months after OSF HealthCare’s announcement to build a new inpatient hospital in Ottawa, Ottawa City Council will pass a resolution opposing these plans.

The resolution is on Commissioner Tom Ganiere’s agenda item for Tuesday evening. Ganiere has already announced that OSF is shifting more services to Peru, away from the hospital in Ottawa.

He is not the only one publicly opposing OSF HealthCare’s plans to make Peru its “hub” hospital with nearly four times as many medical/surgical beds as the future hospital in Ottawa. A Facebook page called “Citizens for Healthcare in Ottawa, IL” has amassed more than 1,500 followers. Page administrators have criticized the “plans to move hospital services from Ottawa to Peru” on a daily basis.

Tuesday night’s council meeting in Ottawa starts at 7 p.m.
