Bodies found during search for brothers Jake and Callum Robinson in Mexico

Three bodies have been found during the search for two Australian brothers Jake And Callum Robinson and their American friend Jack Carter RhodeMexican authorities have confirmed.

A government official from Ensenada, in northwestern Mexico, told the ABC that the bodies were discovered near a cliff on the Pacific coast.

The bodies have not yet been identified.

Three Mexican residents are currently in custody, including a 23-year-old woman who was found to be in possession of one of their phones and two brothers, one of whom is reportedly romantically involved with the woman.

A burnt-out car in which the brothers and their friend were traveling was previously found on a farm in the area.

Local police confirmed that tents were also found where the men were believed to be staying.

Authorities are concerned the men may have engaged in “foul play,” the ABC said.

But the attorney general of Baja California, María Elena Andrade Ramírezsaid they could not confirm a link with organized crime.

Speaking through an interpreter, she told the ABC that the men’s disappearance was an “atypical, exceptional case”.

“We have an influx of tourists and a similar case has not occurred,” she said.

“We have a significant amount of evidence and are conducting an extensive investigation.

“However, we have found no evidence that could indicate their continued existence.”

The Perth brothers have not been heard from since April 27.

They were surfing and camping in Baja California, but when they failed to reach their accommodation in the town of Rosarito, alarm bells went off.

On Friday, Debra And Martin Robinson, the Perth brothers’ parents, said they were “en route to the US/Mexico to be as close as possible to the area where they were last seen”.

“Callum and Jake are beautiful people,” they said in a statement to the media.

“We love them so much and this breaks our hearts.

“Our only consolation right now is that they were doing something together that they loved passionately.”
