Bahamas World Relays: Ghana paired with world and Olympic champions in Heat 1

Ghana’s men’s 4x100m relay team will be paired with world champions from the USA and Olympic champions Italy in Heat 1 of the Bahamas World Athletics Relays.

The Ghanaian team includes standout athletes such as Joseph Paul Amoah, who won the gold medal at the 2023 African Games, and Benjamin Azamati, the country’s 100m sprint record holder, alongside promising talents Ibrahim Fuseini and Isaac Botsio.

They will try to displace the world champions from the US, led by 100 and 200 meter sprinter Noah Kyle, while the defending Olympic champions from Italy will have Marcel Jacobs, gold medalist in the 100 meters at the Tokyo Olympics, as their anchor .

Joining them in Heat 1 are the host country Bahamas, Liberia, Korea and the Czech Republic. Despite their 15th place in the world rankings, Ghana must secure a place in the top two to automatically qualify for the Paris Olympics.

Although the team set a national record of 38.07 seconds at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene two years ago, they faced challenges in improving this.

In recent competitions, Ghana clocked 38.43 seconds at the 2023 African Games, earning a silver medal, and 39.59 seconds at the Penn Relays on May 28, 2024.
