Van-Far will perform together.

For the first time since the third-place team in 2019, Van-Far is sending a team to the state tournament. After finishing second in Friday’s Class 1 District 2 tournament at Heritage Hills Golf Course in Moberly, the Indians earned the right to have their top four golfers compete Friday at the Class 1 state tournament on May 13 and 14 at the Twin Hills Golf & Country Club in Joplin.

Pacey Reading finished third individually after shooting a 79, or nine over par, beaten only by district champion Trevor Biggerstaff of Canton and his 76 and Salisbury’s Nolan Gordon and his 78. Reading, who will make his second straight appearance, earned all district honors by finishing in the top 13.

But with Van-Far having a team score of 361 to finish behind Salisbury’s 326, Kaleb Baskett, Nikos Connaway and Kasen Christian will join Reading. Baskett had a 90, which was better than the state qualifying cutoff score of 91, Connaway shot a 92 and Christian had a 100. Clara Wallace finished with a 122.
