Global Corner brings Mexico to NB Cook Elementary School students

NB Cook Elementary School students had their passports stamped for a trip to Mexico, where they learned about various elements of Mexican culture, including traditions, clothing, geography, music, animals and language.

Each year, the Northwest Florida nonprofit Global Corner chooses a different country to train students from Escambia and Santa Rosa. Since its founding in 2008, they have educated more than 90,000 children and ‘visited’ 16 different countries in the hope of building global competence and cultural appreciation in children.

This is done through hands-on activities, such as learning the Jarabe Tapatío, the national dance of Mexico, also known as the Mexican hat dance. Along the way, Global Corner hopes that students will become curious about the world around them and build empathy and understanding.
