Construction worker, 44, hacked to death – News Room Guyana

A 44-year-old construction worker was hacked to death in Plaisance, East Coast Demerara (ECD) on Thursday. Police are looking for his attacker.

Dead is Joseph Forde called ‘Who U’, 44, of Middle Street Sparendaam, ECD.

The murder is said to have been committed between 9.30pm and 9.45pm on Victoria Road, Plaisance, ECD, by a man named “Fatta” and “Kevin”.

He has yet to be arrested.

Police headquarters said in a statement that Forde intervened in a logging incident between the suspect and another man in the area at around 9.20pm last Tuesday.

This resulted in an argument between Forde and the suspect, which was eventually resolved.

After that chopping incident, police said Forde contacted the victim’s family members, who took him to Georgetown Public Hospital.

However, on Thursday evening, police said a friend of Forde claimed he had received a call from a taxi driver saying Forde had been dismembered and taken to Georgetown Public Hospital.

“The taxi driver proceeded to say that Forde, however, succumbed to his injuries,” police said.

Forde’s body is in the hospital morgue awaiting an autopsy.

Efforts are being made to locate the suspect.
