International airlines resume flights to Cuba

Havana, May 3 (ACN) Cuban tourism will be boosted by the resumption of flights to local destinations by international airlines from the second half of May.

Tourism Marketing Director Gihana Galindo made the announcement during the 42nd International Tourism Fair (FITCuba2024) in the presence of Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel.

Galindo said China Airlines will resume operations on the Beijing-Madrid-Havana route on May 17. China Airlines connected Beijing, Montreal and Havana before the COVID-29 pandemic.

Meanwhile, four weekly flights from Portugal will also give tourists the opportunity to enjoy the summer season here, with two of them landing in the tourist center of Varadero, one in the city of Santa Clara and another in the Jardines del Rey Keys, for the northern Cuban coast. .

A new airline will increase the number of flights from Spain to the central city of Santa Clara, while there will also be new flights from the capital Madrid.

Flights from the Czech Republic and Slovakia will also return this summer, showing that the 2023 experience was positive for those tourism sources, the official said, adding that these two markets will resume operations in the winter season with flights from Prague to the eastern city Holguin and Santa Clara, while another will connect Bratislava with Holguin.

Currently, Cuba receives flights from 54 countries, 150 weekly flights from Canada and Spain, while promotions are underway to encourage new flights from other airlines.

Cuba offers more than 82 thousand modern and comfortable hotel rooms in various tourist destinations; This number is expected to grow to 110 hotel rooms by 2030.
